Kevin (my husband) grew up and went to school nearby Grassington, his parents owning and managing ‘The Forresters Arm’s in the village. My name is Mary-Ellis and my parents came to Yorkshire during the war, my father being in the army and my mother to farm the land as a land army girl. They both loved Yorkshire so stayed and had me my brother!

When we came here 16 years ago we immediately fell in love with Beckermonds and the surrounding area. It was perfect for me as a keen walker as my husband was a sea captain and was away fishing all the time for the world record Marlin! Beckermonds was the ideal stress-free retreat for us and our increasing number of grandchildren to congregate. The grandchildren have now all grown up so we are in a position to be able to share this special place so others can enjoy it too.
