The variety of birds found in the region is quite staggering and can include a few species of raptors, all three woodpeckers and with the exception of the barn own all owl species can be found if you know how to find them.
Goosanders have been seen to breed along the river and several birds of prey species can also be found - in fact a sparrow hawk recently landed in our front garden!
If you walk in any of the nearby woods you may be lucky enough to see the Green Woodpecker and partridges are fairly common too.
We have plenty of books on birds here at the cottages, so if you do spot one and you are not quite sure which species it is then you can look this up on your return to the cottage.
